On 15 August 2018, four police personnel were killed and four others were wounded, as result of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonation in Kandahar province. According to the authorities the blast occurred when the policemen tried to render safe an explosives-laden vehicle. The VBIED was reportedly targeting the 11th District Deputy Chief of Police. There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
