California:  Explosion Outside of Apartment Complex

On 17 October 2017 at approximately 0700 hours local time, an explosive device detonated in front of an apartment complex in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. The device ignited several small bushes; a parked car and a nearby fence suffered minor damage. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Bomb Squad determined that the device was likely a pyrotechnic. However, there were only limited device components remaining for examination when they arrived. No one was injured and an investigation is ongoing.
