On 2 October 2017, a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated outside of a police station in the al-Midan neighborhood of Damascus. Following the initial explosion, two suicide bombers clashed with police officers before detonating their devices at the main entrance and on the first floor of the police station. The attack left 11 dead and an unknown number wounded. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.
