Philippines:  One Child Killed, One Wounded in IED Explosion

On 2 October 2017 at approximately 1530 hours local time, an IED detonated near a residence in the village of Poblacion, Dimataling municipality. Two children were playing with what appeared to be a metallic object at their aunt’s home when the detonation occurred. The IED killed one child and severely wounded the other. Both children were three years old. Police recovered pieces of aluminum sheet to determine what type of explosive was used in the device. An investigation is ongoing.
