France:  IED Attack Thwarted Ahead of Soccer Match

On 30 September 2017 at approximately 0430 hours local time, two IEDs were discovered near the Parc Des Princes stadium in Paris. The devices consisted of two compressed gas cylinders covered in fuel with a cell phone incorporated to act as the initiation switch. One of the devices was discovered in the hall of a building, while the second was located on a sidewalk. Five individuals were arrested, none were formally identified and remain in custody. One of the individuals was known to the authorities prior to the event and was in the Terrorism Prevention and Radicalization Reporting File (FSPRT). Officials withheld release of event details until 3 October 2017, in order to conduct follow on raids. An investigation is ongoing.
