Russia: Islamic State Members Apprehended with Explosiv

On 30 September 2017, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) agents detained two suspected Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham (ISIS) members outside of Moscow. The suspected ISIS members were in possession of two explosive devices, items for manufacturing explosive devices, two Marakova (Makarov) pistols, two RGD-5 grenades and communications equipment. The devices allegedly contained nails as fragmentation enhancements. The two suspected ISIS members were identified as construction workers in Moscow. They were allegedly plotting to carry out high profile attacks in crowded areas and along transportation infrastructure. An investigation is ongoing.
