On 29 September 2017, an IED detonated outside of a private hospital on Ring Road near the town of Shinwari. The explosion seriously injured three civilians, while lightly wounding 20 others. Those with minor injuries were treated on scene, while those who suffered serious injuries were transferred to the Lady Reading Hospital, where they received additional care. According to police, the owner of the targeted hospital recently received several threatening phone calls from extortionists.. Bomb Disposal Squad technicians stated the device was probably homemade. An investigation is underway.
