On 29 September 2017 at approximately 1030 hours local time, an explosive device detonated at a checkpoint in the Mae Lan district. The explosive device was concealed in a motorcycle that was parked in front of a security booth at the checkpoint. The security booth was staffed by volunteer security personnel. All volunteer security personnel were not injured in the incident. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians responded and an investigation is ongoing.
