California: Alameda County Bomb Squad Renders Safe Two Pip

On 27 September 2017 at approximately 0800 hours local time, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies responded to a report of a suspect device at the county salvage and recycling facility. ACSO Bomb Squad technicians responded, confirmed the presence of a viable pipe bomb and rendered safe the device. There were no suspects in the case. Separately, at approximately 1022 hours, a second device was discovered near railroad tracks in Fremont. ACSO Bomb Squad technicians responded and rendered safe the device. The Fremont Police Department (FPD) stated that the device was likely left by juveniles and was probably not linked to the other incident. Investigations are ongoing.
