Philippines: Four Investigators Wounded in IED Attack

On 27 September 2017 at approximately 0700 hours local time, an IED detonated near an Army training facility in Barangay Semba, in Datu Odin Sinsuat town, Maguindanao province. No one was injured in the blast. However, approximately 20 minutes later, a secondary device detonated approximately 15 meters (50 feet) from the original blast site, wounding four members who responded to the initial blast. Army EOD technicians stated that the two devices were made with unspecified explosive powder and utilized bent nails and jagged pieces of cast iron as fragmentation enhancements. An investigation is ongoing.
