Canada: Explosive Device Discovered after Shed Fire

On 23 September 2017 at approximately 0100 hours local time, South Simcoe Police Department (SSPD) officers and Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services responded to calls of a fire at a shed outside a home in the town of Innisfil. After the fire was extinguished, police discovered marijuana, ammunition and an explosive device in the home. The York Regional Police Explosive Disposal Unit responded and rendered safe the device. A 23 year-old Innisfil male suspect living at the home was arrested and is facing several charges. The person(s) responsible for starting the fire are still at large and an investigation is ongoing.
