Myanmar: Seven Improvised Explosive Devices Cleared

On 24 September 2017, Myanmar security forces discovered and rendered safe seven explosive devices in the Chein Khar Li village of Yathedaung Township, Rakhine state. The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) extremist group is suspected of planting the devices. The Muslim residents of Rakhine state are known as the Rohingya, a group of people the Government of Myanmar considers refuges from Bangladesh, and not subject to legal protection. However, the Government of Myanmar continues refugee resettle efforts in the country’s northern Rakhine state.
