Afghanistan: Five Czech Soldiers Wounded in Suicide VBIED Attack

On 17 October 2018 at approximately 1600 hours local time, a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) near a gate at Bagram Air Field. The attack wounded five Czech service members and four Afghan civilians. A U.S. military spokesperson stated that the suicide bomber conducted the attack on the patrol in an armored vehicle. The Taliban warned that they would be targeting security forces during the parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for 20 October.
