West Virginia: Chemical Pressure Bomb Explodes in Neighborhood

TRIPwire, 01 October 2018

On 28 September 2018 at approximately 0930 hours local time, a chemical pressure bomb functioned in a busy street, a few blocks from both elementary and middle schools in Barboursville. No one was injured. News sources reported, the plastic bottle had Drano mixed with aluminum foil and pieces of soda can, as fragmentation enhancements. A neighbor described the explosion as loud and that the device was “intended for someone to get hurt.” Officers from the Barboursville Police Department (BPD) collected the pieces and the bottle from the road for further investigation. BPD detectives with the State Fire Marshall’s Office are searching for the bomb maker.
