Alabama: IED Found in Car of Kidnapper Who Shot at Deputies

On 01 November 2018, media reported that deputies from Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) found an improvised explosive device (IED) in a stolen vehicle on 21 October in Limestone County. The vehicle was abandoned in a pasture by a 25-year-old male suspect who was accused of firing shots at multiple deputies, while taking two women hostages, and setting fire to a home. No injuries were reported in the incident. According to LCSO spokesman, an unidentified device was found in the suspect’s vehicle and recently confirmed to be an IED. The suspect was charged with five counts of attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping, arson, theft, shooting into an occupied vehicle, criminal mischief, and possession of a homemade explosive device.
