West Virginia: Driver Threatens to Kill President Trump, Blow Up Pentagon

On 27 March 2019, a male suspect was arrested during a traffic stop after threatening to kill President Trump and blow up the Pentagon. A West Virginia State Police (WVSP) officer was conducting the traffic stop on Interstate 68 near Hazelton when the suspect made the verbal threats. The suspect was detained and a vehicle search revealed a firearm. Initial reports by the West Virginia University Police Department stated that explosive material was detected by three K-9 units; a WVSP Explosive Response Team then examined the vehicle but did not locate any explosive materials. Other responding agencies included the FBI, ATF, USSS, Preston County Sheriff’s Department, Kingwood Police Department, West Virginia Department of Highways, Maryland State Highway Administration, Bruceton-Brandonville Volunteer Fire Department, Bruceton Ambulance Service, and Maryland State Police. No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.
