New Jersey: IED Functioned at Private Residence

On 6 August 2019 at approximately 1330 hours local time, the Medford Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of gunshots at a private residence. Upon arrival, MPD discovered the gunshot noise was caused by a detonated IED. The device was detonated by a 17-year-old male in a dirt pile in the outside rear of the home. Authorities found additional devices in the yard and dispatched the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad to perform render safe procedures. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
