Florida: DHS Facility Targeted with IID
TRIPwire, 3 September 2019
On 30 August 2019, a female suspect entered the lobby of a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Office in Oakland Park and threw an improvised incendiary device (IID). The Molotov cocktail-type device, described as a bottle filled with gasoline and a lit fuse, failed to detonate. No injuries or damage was reported. Federal Protective Service officers arrested the woman at the scene and believe she intended to cause harm, but do not think the incident was related to other recent cases where DHS facilities have been targeted. The investigation is ongoing.
