Louisiana: IED Detonates in Neighborhood

On 7 October 2019 at approximately 1230 hours local time, the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) responded to reports of an explosion in a residential neighborhood. Officers found remnants of an IED that appeared to be constructed from a medicine bottle. No injuries or property damage were reported. A witness told local media the explosion sounded like an electrical transformer exploding and was followed by smoke coming from the street. The BRPD Explosives/Hazardous Material Unit and ATF investigated the incident but have not identified any suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
