Nepal: Explosive Device Detonates at a Tourist Bus Park near Election Office

On 7 November 2019 at approximately 1055 hours local time, an unidentified explosive device detonated at a tourist bus parking lot in the city of Pokhara in central Nepal. There were no reports of any injuries or property damage. Authorities noted that the explosion occurred only 100m (328ft) away from an election office. At the time of the explosion, a member of the ruling Nepal Communist Party was filing her candidacy for upcoming elections at the office. It is unclear who detonated the device and what the intended target was. Police are investigating the incident.
