United Kingdom: Detonated IED Found in Residential Neighborhood

On 7 November 2019 at approximately 1850 hours local time, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) received reports of a suspicious object found by the owner near a private residence in Belfast. PSNI and an ammunition technical officer examined the object and confirmed it was the remains of an IED described as a “viable pipe bomb-type device.” Authorities believe the device detonated on 4 November. No injuries were reported, but a nearby windowsill was slightly damaged. Remnants of the functioned device were removed for further examination. The investigation is ongoing.
