Netherlands: Two Suspects Arrested in Terror Plot Involving VBIED, PBIEDs
TRIPwire, 27 November 2019
On 25 November 2019, authorities arrested two men, ages 20 and 34, from Zoetermeer accused of preparing a terror attack using at least one vehicle-borne IED (VBIED) and person-borne IEDs (PBIEDs). The Public Prosecution Service alleged that the suspects intended to carry out the attack by the end of the year. The General Intelligence and Security Service learned of the suspects based on their expressed desire to receive training on using explosive devices to commit a jihadist attack. No details have been released on a potential target for the attack. Police did not find firearms or explosives on the suspects at the time of arrest, and a search of their homes yielded a throwing ax, dagger, mobile phone, and several SIM cards.
