India: Bridge Targeted in Explosive Attack During Election

On 30 November 2019, a bridge was blown up in the Gumla district during the first phase of Assembly elections in Jharkhand. No injuries were reported. Authorities believe the Naxalite terrorist organization was behind the attack in an attempt to intimidate votes. Voting continued uninterrupted as security forces increased their presence. The investigation is ongoing.
