TRIPwire, 26 November 2019
On 25 November 2019 at approximately 0330 hours local time, two suspects detonated an unknown explosive device on an ATM in the town of Noord-Scharwoude. The explosion caused extensive damage to the ATM and the building to which the ATM was attached. It is unknown if the suspects, who fled the scene on a scooter, succeeded in removing cash from the ATM. This is the 5th ATM bombing in the province of Noord-Holland over the past week and the 30th in the last 2 years. No device details from this incident have been released, but authorities and ATM manufacturers noted that perpetrators are increasingly using triacetone triperoxide (TATP) in ATM bombings across Europe.
