Brazil: IEDs Detonate in Soccer Stadium, 13 Injured

On 8 December 2019, three IEDs were detonated in a soccer stadium in Belo Horizonte during the Brazilian Championship game. Police arrested three people in connection with the incident, which occurred when the home team was demoted to a lower division for the first time in franchise history. Rioting broke out in the stands, with fans throwing objects at the players and fighting amongst each other. Authorities are collecting evidence associated with the device, and the investigation is ongoing.
