TRIPwire, 13 February 2020

On 13 February 2020 at approximately 1130 hours local time, an IED functioned in a Lucknow district court compound in the lawyers’ chambers. At least two lawyers were injured in the blast. An official from the local bar association claimed he was the target of the attack, which stemmed from a rivalry between two groups of lawyers. Video surveillance shows the two groups clashing prior to the explosion. The official indicated that multiple suspects threw IEDs outside his chamber, and at least three IEDs that had not functioned were recovered after the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
