Minnesota: Detonated IED Discovered by Road

On 21 March 2020 at approximately 0945 hours local time, officers from the North Branch Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious device along a road near North Branch. Police described the device as a white PVC pipe that appeared to be an IED. The Saint Paul Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene to investigate. Bomb squad technicians confirmed the device was an IED that had already functioned, and it was removed from the area for further analysis. The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the response.
