California: IED, BMM Discovered in Felon’s Home

On 19 May 2020 at approximately 2230 hours local time, deputies from the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office contacted and arrested a 48-year-old male convicted felon for active arrest warrants. During a search of the man’s Bishop home, deputies found and removed an IED; bomb-making materials (BMM), including 50 lb of ammonium nitrate blasting agent, a live blasting cap, and a fuse; an AR-15-style rifle with loaded magazines; and several rounds of live ammunition. The man was charged with possession of a destructive device, possession of materials with intent to make a destructive device, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and violation of terms of post release supervision.
