Alabama: IEDs, BMM Found in Residence, Ditch

On 11 June 2020, Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LSCO) deputies and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Hazardous Device Team personnel responded to a reported IED, described as a pipe bomb, in a roadside ditch near Athens. Investigators identified a 33-year-old male suspect based on witness statements. LSCO, ALEA, and ATF investigators searched his home and uncovered another IED and bomb-making materials (BMM). Investigators did not release any device details. The man was charged with possession of a destructive device and may face Federal charges.
