Canada: Second IID Functions at Residence

On 26 June 2020 at approximately 0015 hours local time, firefighters from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department and officers from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to reports of a structure fire at a residence in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. A vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence was targeted with an improvised incendiary device (IID), which ignited the car. A neighbor who heard the commotion responded and extinguished the fire with a garden hose. The same residence was targeted with an IID on 23 June, and a different neighbor responded to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported, and investigation is ongoing.
