United Kingdom: IED Malfunctions in Yard

On 28 September 2020, Police Service of Northern Ireland investigators responded to a Londonderry home after an IED described as a pipe bomb functioned in the yard. No injuries were reported. British Army Technical Officers responded to the scene and examined the device, which they described as a crude explosive, then concluded it had only partially functioned and rendered it safe. The investigation is ongoing.
