Massachusetts: IEDs, BMM Discovered in Residence

On 2 October 2020, officers from the Monterey Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police (MSP), and the MSP Bomb Squad discovered several IEDs, described as homemade M-class explosive devices, and bomb-making materials (BMM), including explosive powders, while executing a search warrant at a Monterey residence. The items were removed from the home, and the explosives were rendered safe in a secure location. The search stemmed from suspicious activity reported by a neighbor and focused on the suspect’s illegal manufacturing and selling of homemade explosive powders. ATF agents, the FBI, the Joint Hazard Incident Response Team, and the State Police Joint Terrorism Task Force assisted with the investigation. The suspect faces multiple charges, including the illegal possession, manufacture, and sale of explosive devices.
