On 18 October 2020, at approximately 0745 hours local time, deputies from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection  Butte Unit responded after receiving reports of a man throwing pyrotechnics, described as fireworks, from a moving vehicle in Table Mountain. Deputies discovered additional pyrotechnics, described as bottle rockets, and narcotics while searching the vehicle. Authorities arrested and charged the 36-year-old suspect for possessing dangerous fireworks, placing an explosive device in or about structures or land to start a fire, driving with a suspended license, and possessing narcotics. The investigation is ongoing.
