TRIPwire, 21 January 2021

On 20 January 2021, at approximately 0947 hours local time, Farmington Police Department (FPD) officers were attacked with an improvised incendiary device (IID) while responding to an apartment complex after receiving reports that a man with a gun was attacking residents and breaking into apartments. When police arrived, the suspect barricaded himself in an apartment with a firearm, tossed the firearm out a window, doused himself and the apartment in gasoline, and briefly emerged to throw a gasoline container at officers. The suspect stepped out a second time and threw the IID, described as Molotov cocktail, at officers. FPD officers opened fire and injured the suspect, who was taken to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
