California: Man Attacks Neighbor’s Home with IID

On 9 January 2021, at approximately 1715 hours local time, Riverside Police Department (RPD) officers responded to a residence after a 62-year-old male suspect threw an improvised incendiary device (IID) at a neighbor’s house after a verbal altercation with that neighbor. No injuries were reported, but the house sustained minor fire damage. RPD officers searched the suspect’s home and found five additional IIDs. Detectives from RPD’s Technical Services Unit examined the devices and described them as Molotov cocktails. The suspect is facing several charges, including possession of a destructive incendiary device, attempted murder, and arson. The investigation is ongoing.
