On 18 February 2021, at approximately 1350 hours local time, Greater Sudbury Police Services (GSPS) Emergency Response Unit officers conducted a search of a private residence, after receiving a tip that the 25-year-old suspect kept drugs and explosives in the home. The GSPS Explosive Disposal Unit, the Major Crime and Integrated Crime Sections, and a K9 Unit responded to assist. Explosive Disposal technicians found and rendered safe the explosive devices. No further information was provided on the devices. Authorities charged the suspect with possession of explosives to endanger life or cause damage to property and possession of an explosive without a lawful excuse. The investigation is ongoing.
