On 10 March 2021, at approximately 0700 hours local time, Upshur County Sheriff’s Office and Mountain Lakes Drug and Violent Crime Task Force personnel discovered an unspecified explosive device while executing a search warrant at a 43-year-old suspect’s home in Buckhannon. Authorities also seized 50 firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, body armor, methamphetamine, and $9,000 in cash. No additional information on the explosive device was released. The suspect was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
