New Hampshire: 80 lb of Exploding Target Material Detonates During Gender Reveal

On 20 April 2021, at approximately 1900 hours local time, Kingston Police Department (KPD) officers responded to a local quarry after 80 lb of exploding target material was detonated during a gender reveal party, sending shockwaves across a 20-mile radius. No one was injured, but area residents reported property damage including cracked walls and cracked foundations. The exploding target material was acquired legally and the party had permission to use the quarry, but the individual who purchased the material has since surrendered to the KPD. No charges have been filed yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
