On 22 April 2021, at approximately 0110 hours local time, Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officers responded in Makiki after a 29-year-old man broke the window of a parked vehicle with his wife inside and threw in an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail. The IID failed to function and the woman was not injured. The suspect fled the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
