TRIPwire, 31 August 2021
On 30 August 2021, an IED emplaced at a police station in Cucuta detonated, injuring at least 13 people. No further details were released about the device or damage to property, though an image released to the media showed a police officer inspecting the damage caused to the police station. Cucuta, the capital of North Santander province near the border with Venezuela, is one of Colombia’s leading cocaine production areas, and several armed groups have been fighting over drug trafficking routes and coca fields.
