On 6 January 2022, Cameroonian separatists functioned an IED in the southwest city of Limbe. No one was injured in the incident, and no damage was reported. No further device details have been released. The separatists claimed responsibility for the incident on social media and vowed to disrupt Africa Cup Nations matches scheduled to be held in the city. The army has dispatched additional troops to the area to increase patrols, and the investigation is ongoing.
