Ohio: IID Used to Ignite Fire in Attempted Murder-Suicide Incident

On 11 January 2022, at approximately 0335 hours local time, Toledo Police Department officers and Toledo Fire & Rescue Department crews responded to an apartment complex after a man started a fire with an improvised incendiary device (IID), shot a resident on the second floor, and then took his own life. One resident jumped out of a second-story window, sustaining injuries from the impact. Both victims were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze. The investigation is ongoing.
