Canada: Explosive Devices Discovered in Home, 1 Arrested

On 10 January 2022, Toronto Police Service (TPS), the Emergency Task Force, Police Dog Services, and the Public Safety Response Team searched a residence and a vehicle in a Leslieville neighborhood after receiving reports of a man in possession of several guns and discovered five explosive devices, including two IEDs that were described as homemade. Multiple airsoft guns and a crossbow were also found in the residence. Photos released of the explosive devices depict one of the homemade devices as a metal cylindrical object with a fuse and metals balls taped to the outside. No further details about the explosive devices have been released. TPS arrested the suspect, identified as a 39-year-old Toronto man, and charged him with 18 counts of possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order, 2 counts of possession of an explosive device, possession of a prohibited weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon. The TPS is asking the public for information in the ongoing investigation.
