Virginia: Explosions Damage Public Bookcase and Wood Fixture

TRIPwire, 14 November 2022 On 9 November 2022, at approximately 0045 hours local time, Arlington County Fire Department (ACFD) crews responded following an explosion and fire targeting a freestanding public bookcase on North Columbus Street. Investigators examined the scene and discovered evidence of another explosion at the nearby Lubber Run amphitheater that destroyed a wooden fixture. According to media reporting, the public bookcase explosion may have been caused by a modified pyrotechnic or mortar, but no further device details have been released. The ACFD Bomb Squad, Virginia State Police, ATF, and FBI responded to conduct post-blast analysis and collect evidence. No injuries were reported, and both incidents remain under investigation.
