TRIPwire, 21 November 2022 On 18 November 2022, the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Paramilitary Crime Task Force executed searches at three residential properties and a business in the Lower Newtownards Road area and discovered three pipe bombs and eight handguns. No further device details have been released. According to authorities, four male suspects were arrested in connection to the operation targeting the East Belfast Ulster Volunteer Force. The 51-year-old, 47-year-old, and 34-year-old suspects were charged with possession of explosives in suspicious circumstances and possession of explosives with intent to endanger life, among other charges. The 49-year-old suspect was charged with possession of articles for use in terrorism, among other charges.
