Florida: Ordnance Taken to Pawn Shop

TRIPwire, 19 January 2023 On 17 January 2023, at approximately 1500 hours local time, North Port Police Department (NPPD) officers responded to U.S. 41 and Eager Avenue after a man attempted to sell a live (unfired) 75mm ordnance from World War I at a nearby pawn shop. According to officers, the man came across the ordnance after helping a friend clean out their house. Explosive experts from NPPD, Sarasota Police Department, and MacDill Air Force Base also responded to assist, and the ordnance was transported to the base to be rendered safe.
