Washington: IEDs Discovered in Residence

TRIPwire, 23 March 2023 On 20 March 2023, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in Buckley as part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting at a neighbor’s house and discovered IEDs described as 16 CO2 cartridges with green wiring. Public Safety Bomb Technicians responded to assist and determined that some of the cartridges were empty while others were filled with what seemed to be gunpowder or flash powder and fragmentation. An AR-15 rifle with an 8-inch barrel and multiple pellet guns were also found in the home. No further device details were provided. The 51-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of an incendiary device, unlawful possession of a short-barreled rifle, unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree, and malicious mischief in the third degree.
