New Mexico: BMM Discovered Near Church, 1 Arrested

TRIPwire, 2 June 2023 On 31 May 2023, at approximately 0000 hours local time, Dona Ana County Sheriff (DACS) deputies arrested a 40-year-old male suspect at a park next to Moongate Church in Las Cruces, as he was placing bomb-making material (BMM), described as “an eight-inch galvanized pipe with caps on both ends, a battery bridge, red and black multi meter device, rechargeable batteries, and black and red wires,” in a backpack. DACS Bomb Squad technicians responded to assist. No further details concerning the BMM were released. The suspect is charged with possession of an explosive or incendiary device. The investigation is ongoing.
