Oklahoma: IED Destroys Mailbox

On 2 April 2019, Rogers County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) deputies responded to the scene of an IED explosion inside the mailbox of a private residence in Inola. According to witnesses, they heard a loud explosion before finding the mailbox destroyed and the driveway covered in smoke. No injuries were reported but RCSO deputies confirmed the damage was caused by an IED. Authorities are seeking the suspect and an investigation is ongoing.
New Hampshire: IED Discovered Outside Private Residence

On 29 March 2019 at approximately 1030 hours local time, an auto repair shop owner reported his neighbor had discovered an IED in his backyard. The business owner placed the device inside his office before contacting police. New Hampshire State Police Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit examined the object and determined it to be a “crude” IED. The EOD unit removed the device to their facility to properly dispose of it. It is unclear how long the crude device had been in the yard.
California: Woman Injured After Functioning Explosive Device

On 28 March 2019 at approximately 2130 hours local time, Merced Police Department (MPD) officers responded to reports of an explosion, which injured only the female suspect. According to MPD, the woman set off an unidentified explosive device behind a grocery store, injuring her hand and chest. MPD Bomb Squad investigators are examining the remaining evidence, but there is no additional information about the device. The investigation is ongoing.
Kansas: Man Caught with IED, Gun, and Heroin

On 30 March 2019 at approximately 1400 hours local time, Topeka Police arrested a 41-year-old man for possession of an IED, firearm, and drug paraphernalia following a suspicious person stop. The suspect lied about his identity, but Topeka Police discovered he had two city warrants out for his arrest after they determined his identity.
