On 24 October 2019, arsonists targeted a vehicle parked in the driveway of the Dewsbury residence of a Kirklees government official, as well as another vehicle on the street, with improvised incendiary devices (IIDs). CCTV footage captured four suspects exiting a vehicle and throwing Molotov cocktail-type devices at the targeted vehicles. Ten family members were in the residence during the attack, but no one was injured. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fires were deliberate attacks, and the investigation is ongoing.

On 8 April 2019, a 41-year-old male pleaded guilty to possessing an explosive substance with intent as part of a disrupted plot to attack a London mosque with an IED. The man was arrested on 29 October 2018 after he revealed his intention to attack the mosque to his probation officer and showed her images of associated components on his phone. During a search of the man’s residence, police found pyrotechnics, fuses, and a remote control modified to act as a radio-controlled firing switch. Police also found written and electronic evidence that the man had researched instructions for IED construction, as well as the manufacture of homemade explosives (HMEs) and incendiary materials. On 21 August 2017, police discovered an unexploded pipe bomb at a residence in the Heron way area of Londonderry. A brick, a Molotov cocktail and the pipe bomb were thrown at a home in what police attributed to possible sectarian violence among local paramilitary activists. The pipe bomb was recovered outside the home and was determined to be a viable device. This attack is believed to be associated to a recent shooting in the area.

On 6 March 2019, police in County Armagh discovered a significant amount of terrorism-related equipment and ammunition in a Forkhill forest. The Police Service of Northern Ireland Terrorist Investigation Unit confirmed that component parts for mortars, including six mortar tubes, were found buried in the ground in a deliberate attempt at concealment. On 7 July 2018 at approximately 2200 hours local time, officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland responded to a call of a disorderly group in Derby. According to officials, a small group threw over 30 improvised incendiary devices (IIDs) at members of the public and responding police officers. No injuries were sustained during the melee and only minor damage to property occurred. In a similar incident the next night 40 more IIDs were thrown by 15-20 youths targeting a Protestant enclave. An investigation is ongoing.
